Kilka dni temu świat dowiedział się, że Tony Goodman wraz z kilkoma kolegami z dawnego Ensemble założyli nowe studio - Robot Entertainment. Niestety nic więcej nie wiadomo o tym, na jakich grach będzie skupiać się Robot Entertainment, oraz czy zajmują się już jakimś projektem.
Na tym nie koniec. Osoby, którym nie udało się załapać do Robot, znalazły posadę w Bonfire Studios z siedzibą w Dallas, założonym przez Davida Rippy, głównego producenta Halo Wars, wraz z 35 byłymi pracownikami Ensemble. Cała ta ekipa pracowała nad Halo Wars, ale jak się okazuje to Robot Entertainment będzie tworzyć dodatki do tej gry.
Bonfire pracuje już nad nowym projektem. Wiemy o nim tylko tyle, że będzie "szybki, zabawny i wciągający" a także "z głęboką fabułą, walką i rozgrywką", czyli praktycznie nic.
Na „DICE09” Bruce Shelley - człowiek legenda, który pomagał Sidowi Meierowi w stworzeniu Civilization, następnie stworzył Age of Empires a potem zatrudnił się w Ensemble - wyjaśnił zebranym dlaczego Ensemble Studios musiało upaść.
Stwierdził, że Ensemble było zbyt monotematyczne. Wiele świetnych strategii ukazało się z rąk studia, ale RTS’y zaczęły przynosić mniejsze dochody. Jako drugi argument uznał wielkość ekipy. Jako ostatni powód Shelley podał skreślenie przez Microsoft gry Halo MMO. A może raczej bardziej to, że po wykasowaniu projektu studio nie zmniejszyło swoich rozmiarów co mogło doprowadzić do decyzji o zamknięciu Ensemble przez giganta z Redmond.
Tak czy inaczej, dobrze wiedzieć, że twórcy serii Age of Empires szybko znaleźli posady, choć to i tak nie wróży kwiatków (wystarczy spojrzeć na Hellgate London, grę twórców Diablo).
